There are other benefits for looking for longer words. If hot letters stack on top of each other, their burning effect is intensified. More hot letters appear depending on the level and whether you form too many short words. If a hot letter reaches the bottom, you lose. These must be used up soon, or they burn the letters below them, sinking towards the bottom of the screen. The difficulty level is not due to the letters, which are apparently randomized (we didn’t find any bias in the letters which appear, even at higher levels).
